CELEBRATIONS - ANNIVERSARIES

Belcher anniversary

Harry and Ellen Belcher celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary December 14, 1996, at Villa Heights Baptist Church, hosted by their children. They were married December 6, 1946, by the Rev. J. Landon Maddex. Mrs. Belcher was the former Ellen Stanley and is retired from Tultex. Mr. Belcher is retired from the Postal Service.

They have two children, Judy Mason and Keith Belcher, also two grandchildren, Jason and Lauren Belcher, and a deceased grandson, Chip Mason.

Mr. and Mrs. Belcher are long time members of Villa Heights Baptist Church.

Blevins anniversary

Paul and Roxie Blevins are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary December 22, 1996, at their home in Riner, Va. They were married December 22, 1946, in Georgia.

She is the former Roxie Hutchinson of New Castle, Va. Paul grew up in Konnarock, and later moved to New Castle, where they met. He served in the Navy during World War II and is now retired from the Lynchburg Foundry. They have 4 sons, and 6 grandchildren.

Collins anniversary

Bill and Edna Collins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 21, 1996. The celebration was hosted by their children and spouses, Nancy and Bill Wallace, Bill and Mary Collins, and George and Jennifer Collins, was held in Radford at Willowwoods Community Center.

The couple were married on December 19, 1946 in Pulaski, Va. They have lived in Radford since 1966. Mrs. Collins, the former Edna Thomas, is a homemaker. Mr. Collins is retired from the U.S. Air Force. In addition to their 3 children, they have 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and 6 step-grandchildren. Bill and Edna are members of Central United Methodist Church in Radford.

We are proud to have them as parents and grandparents, and wish them many more years of health and happiness.

English anniversary

Edwin R. ``Red'' and Ruby English celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Saturday, December 21, 1996. The celebration at the Roanoke Elks Lodge was hosted by their son, Mike, and daughter-in-law, Jackie.

The couple was married in Roanoke on December 20, 1946, by the Reverend E. D. Poe. Red English retired from the Norfolk Southern Railway. His wife is the former Ruby Carr. They have three grandchildren, Garrett, Lauren and Hunter.

Huffman anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Howard M. Huffman, Jr., were married December 23, 1946, in Bristol, Tennessee. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 23, 1996, during an afternoon reception at the Roanoke Woman's Club in Salem, Va.

Howard and Louise have lived in Salem for 47 years and are long-time members of Fort Lewis Christian Church. They have one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sandy Huffman of Salem; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Tim Corbett of Roanoke, and Pat and Mike Jones of Jarratt, Va.; and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Huffman, the former Lottie Louise Brown of Giles County, is retired from General Electric in Salem. Mr. Huffman, a native of Craig County, served in WWII in the 165th Combat Engineers in Europe and is retired from Graham-White Mfg. Co. in Salem.

Wilson anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Willard M. Wilson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, December 14th, at The Alleghany Inn in Radford, Va., with a dinner hosted by their two daughters and their families. Willard and Mary Wilson were married on December 14, 1946, in Princeton, W. Va.
