BEDFORD TO GET NEW HOLIDAY INN

Construction will begin in early spring on a 60-unit Holiday Inn Express in Bedford, investors and city officials say.

Richard Keeler Sr., owner of the Holiday Inn-Select in Lynchburg and president of Holigem Investors Inc., said his group plans to open the hotel by late 1997 on U.S. 460 at Bedford's western end.

Jay Scudder, director of community development, said other hotel chains, including Comfort Inn, have been investigating expansions into Bedford.
