Annual awards by Radford-Montgomery VFW Post 776 were presented at Monday's Radford City Council meeting. Officer Gary A. Cross is Policeman of the Year; Paramedic of the Year is Beth Gaspard; and Fireman of the Year is John Shumate. Citations of merit were awarded to each.

American Cable Entertainment also notified the Radford council of rate changes effective in February. Basic service rates will increase $5.67 per month to total $13.50 per month; Satellite Tier rates be reduced $2.76 to a total of $14.25 per month; and Choice Package rates will be cut in half, for a $1.00 monthly total. The company has been undergoing reorganization under Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
