EXPRESS CONTINUES ROLL

DAVE STEWART'S shootout goal gives Roanoke its sixth straight win, 4-3 over the Raleigh IceCaps.

Roanoke's Dave Stewart scored the winning goal in the 12th round of a shootout as the Express won its sixth straight game, defeating the Raleigh IceCaps 4-3 in an East Coast Hockey League game Saturday.

Express goalie Larry Moberg was credited with his first ECHL victory.

Jeff Jablonski scored his 19th goal of the season and Bobby Brown connected for his eighth in the first period as the Express (17-10-3) built a 2-1 lead.

Doug Searle scored his second goal of the season for Roanoke in the second period to extend the lead to 3-1, but Raleigh was not finished yet. The IceCaps scored two goals in the third period to tie the score and send the teams into a shootout.

The Express outshot the IceCaps 29-28. Ilya Dubkov had two assists and has had an assist in nine straight games.

Roanoke takes on the Hampton Roads Admirals tonight at the civic center at 6.
