Seven ROANOKE COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT deputy clerks have been certified by the University of Virginia/Virginia Court Clerks' Association. They are Brenda Agee, Clem Cole, Amy Joyce, John Krista, Fay Mahone, Robbie Paluck, Donna Schaffer and Nancy Taylor. Certification is based on educational achievement, years of experience, and attendance at educational and training sessions sponsored by the state Compensation Board, the Virginia Supreme Court and other state and local organizations.

JEFFREY OWENS, broker of Owens and Co. Realtors in Roanoke, has been named Realtor of the Year by the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors.

SOUTHWEST MOVING & STORAGE INC. in Roanoke has become a member of the American Movers Conference, which is affiliated with the American Trucking Association. AMC is the moving industry's largest trade association and its principal rate-making, tariff publishing and data-gathering organization.

CARL B. ROBERTSON has earned the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation from the Institute of Certified Management Accountants. Robertson is a budget analyst and general accountant for Education Systems Corp., parent company of National Business College.

LIZ DAVIS, a Roanoke registered nurse, has received the Alex Sawyer Award from the Blue Ridge Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the area of client services. Davis has worked as an intern with the Blue Ridge Chapter.

THE BLUE RIDGE CHAPTER OF THE CHARTERED PROPERTY CASUALTY UNDERWRITERS SOCIETY recently welcomed new designees into the chapter, including Harold C. Chittum of Roanoke and Aaron J. Smith of Salem. These designations were conferred during a ceremony at the CPCU Society's annual meeting in New York. Also, the chapter has received the E. Adrian Teaf Memorial Education and Excellence Award and the Chapter Continuing Professional Development Award for encouraging continuing education and professional development among members.

WILLIAM H. SPENCER III, a Franklin Life Insurance Co. agent in Roanoke, will be featured in the company's national publication, The Franklin Field, for qualifying for the Regency Club. Membership in the club recognizes sales performance.

TODD C. GEIST, Roanoke district manager of American General Life Insurance Co., and TIM HURST, Roanoke sales manager with American General, have recently celebrated their 15th anniversary with the company.

The VINTON DOGWOOD CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION has elected officers for 1996-97: Fleta Dillon, president; Merrie Lee Morris, vice president; Barbara Harris, secretary; Jo Ann Stegall, corresponding secretary; and Nancy Smoot, treasurer.

LAWRENCE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS INC., an agent of St. Louis-based United Van Lines, was recognized for achievement during United's recent convention in Puerto Rico. Lawrence received the "President's Club" award for agents with at least $1 million in sales during the past year. Lawrence was recognized at the $8 million level.

THE ROANOKE VALLEY CHAPTER OF THE SOCIETY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT has won an award and $1,000 from the group's national office for staging a class in people skills that drew 780 area personnel managers and others last year.

The Society for Human Resources Management, based in Alexandria, and Olsten Staffing Services gave the chapter its Pinnacle Award. The local chapter put the training program together with the Roanoke-based Management Association of Western Virginia and the Martinsville chapter of the personnel managers group. The program will be repeated next year.

THE CENTRAL VIRGINIA CHAPTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE HOUSEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION presented awards at a luncheon during National Housekeepers Week in September. The Housekeeper of the Year award winners were Sherlene Thomasson of Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, Vince Rervekant of Hollins College and Robert Frasure of Virginia Tech. The Executive Housekeeper of the Year award was given to Floyd Welton of Hollins College, who is president of the Central Virginia chapter of the housekeepers association. Special recognition was given to board members Diana Lewis, Toni Lee, Margie Lawrence, Lois Childress, Veneda Leslie and Charlie Hall.

WILLIAM R. STOUT of Stout Insurance & Financial Services Inc. and DENNIE P. DENISON III, both Roanoke insurance agents, have been recognized by Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield for exceptional service to their customers and the company. They were among more than 50 agencies and brokers to qualify for Trigon's 1996 Broker Performance Recognition Program, which is based on superior sales performance and other criteria.

CASIMIR J. "KI" LUCZAK of Roanoke has been elected to the Million Dollar Round Table's 1996 Honor Roll, which recognizes members who have qualified by meeting or exceeding the Round Table's production requirement 15 or more times. Luczak is a 30-year Round Table member. The Million Dollar Round Table is an independent, international association of life insurance producers who have excelled in sales performance.

WALTER J. BAUMOEL JR., a district leader in Roanoke for the Franklin Life Insurance Co., has qualified for Franklin's Circle of Champions Club, a national honor organization of the company's most successful managers.
