BLAIR, William Edward, Sr., 52, of Wirtz, passed away Friday, January 3, 1997. He is survived by a daughter, Jeanie Blair Wickline of Wirtz; a son, William E. Blair Jr. of Roanoke County; grandchildren, Amanda Leigh Blair, Jamie Deen Wickline and Shawn Lee Wickline; brothers, Joe Blair of Roanoke and Lyn Walker of Baskerville, and sisters, Marie Shepheard of Washington State and Shirley Workman of Roanoke. CRANE, Flora C., 81, of Clintonville, W.Va., passed away Thursday, January 2, 1997, at home after a short illness. Mrs. Crane was born March 13, 1915 to the late Charles and Myrtle Crookshanks Henson. She was a member of the Crawley Baptist Church, but also attended the James Chapel United Methodist Church for the past 13 years. ``Aunt Flora'' was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Crane Sr.; and her brother, Charles Roy Henson; sisters, Mae Harvey and Lula Williams. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest ``Jr.'' and Beverly Crane of Gap Mills, W.Va.; daughters and son-in-law, Ruby and Doug St.Claire of Roanoke, Cathy and John Clinebell of Abingdon; sister, Alta Harvey of Clintonville, W.Va.; four grandchildren; one stepgrandson; one stepgranddaughter; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 5, 1997, at 1 p.m. at James Chapel United Methodist Church at Clintonville with Rev. Garlin Groves and Rev. Sterling Morgan officiating. DEATON, Ruth Taylor, (``Nannie''), 73, of Roanoke, passed away suddenly Thursday, January 2, 1997. She was the widow of Bernard Otis Deaton. Survivors include two daughters, Judy D. Brown, Roanoke, Becky D. and husband, Kevin Flanagan, Medina, Ohio; two grandchildren, Kim and husband, Jay Robertson, Kelly and husband, James Balderston; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Marie Robertson, Nicholas Lance Robertson and Carl Balderston; one brother, Al Taylor, Roanoke; one sister, Virginia Falin, Welch, W.Va. HICKS, Agnes C., 80 of Roanoke died Thursday, January 2, 1997. She was born November 8, 1916, the daughter of John C. and Martha Cunningham. Mrs. Hicks was a graduate of Bowling Green U niversity, a member of the Chestnut Hills Garden Club, a member of the Docent Guild and an active member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Byron A. Hicks; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Richard Stover of Roanoke, Celia and Donald Gehring ; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kathleen all of Richmond; nephew, George H. HUFF, Virginia Moore, 89, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 3, 1997. She was a native of Pulaski and had resided there until 1956 when she moved to Roanoke. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke, where she had served as president of her Sunday School class. Then in 1991 she moved to Salem where she joined Bethel Baptist Church and enjoyed an active involvement in many of the church's activities. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William Neal Huff Sr.; a son, Malcom Blaine Huff; and a grandson, Timothy Blaine Huff. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-laws, William Neal Huff Jr., Dublin, Louise Poole Huff, Hillsville, Rev. Harry E. and Arlene Huff, Arlington, Texas, Bob J. and Karla Huff, Dugspur, Rev. W. Wesley and Fern Huff, Lynchburg; daughter and son-in-law, Rev. KELLAHIN, Rev. Josephine Dorothy, 90, of 1488 Peters Creek Road and formerly of Richmond, Ind., died Thursday, January 2, 1997. She was born in Richmond, Ind., on December 24, 1906, a daughter of the late George Bartel and Esther Sitloh Bartel. She was a member of Roanoke United Metaphysical Chapel and a retired school teacher with the Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Martin Kellahin. She is survived by her brother, H. Charles Bartel of Richmond, Ind.; a niece, Natalie Swain of Richmond, Ind., and the Rev. MASSIE, Archibald Lancelot, of Louisa, died Thursday, January 2, 1997. He was born January 28, 1912, and was a lifelong resident and prominent farmer in Louisa County. He was the third son of Annie Elizabeth Goodwin Massie and William Corbin Massie. He is survived by his wife of 54 1/2 years, Rose Duggins Massie; four children, Mary E. Vetrovec of Richmond, Jane M. Schmierer of Richmond, Nancy M. Moga of Covington, Fred Massie of Louise; a brother, J. Quintus Massie of Louisa; seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Corbin Massie, Brooke G. Massie, G. William Massie. He was a lifelong member of Goldmine Baptist Church, where he was active in all church activities, and a member for over 50 years of the Louisa County Ruritan Club. Mr. Massie began farming at four years of age and was active until his death. ``Pop'' Massie's warmth and humor will be missed by his many friends and relatives. Visitation will be held at Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa on Saturday, January 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Goldmine Baptist Church on Sunday, January 5, as part of the 11 a.m. service. McNUTT, W. Sherrill, Jr., 72, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, January 3, 1997, after a battle with cancer. Sherrill was a graduate of Roanoke College and retired from Eastern Airlines after 37 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beulah McNutt, and a brother, Jimmy McNutt. He is survived by his wife, Ruth F. McNutt; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Lynda McNutt, Jimmy and Kitty McNutt; stepson and wife, Jack and Sue Hurd, all of Roanoke; one granddaughter, Melody McNutt; two stepgrandsons, Mike and Bobby Hurd and wife, Kim; sisters and brother-in-law, Marge and Jim Lawson, Fort Mitchell, Ky., Peggy St.Clair, Roanoke; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Lois McNutt. PAYNE, Inez Virginia, Our beloved mother and Grandmother passed away January 3, 1997. SEARS, Mary June Meade, 62, of 2204 Gate Road Christiansburg, died January 2, 1997 at her residence. Mrs. Sears was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard L. SEXTON, Ruby Pearl, 86, of Shawsville, died Tuesday, December 31, 1996, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m . on Saturday, January 4, 1997, at Big Springs Baptist Church in Elliston with the Rev. Todd Knock officiating. SHRADER, Berman Clifford, 75, of Route 2, Narrows, died Thursday evening, January 2, 1997, at his home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born on August 1, 1921, and was a son of the late Joseph Martin and Ada Virginia Leftwich Shrader. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Shrader, and a sister, Myrtle Martin. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received a Purple Heart and a Silver Star during the war. At the end of World War II, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Army and remained there until his retirement after 20 years of service. During his military career, he taught ROTC at Penn State University and was a military advisor to the Country of Iran. He was a member of Intermont Lodge #269 A.F.&A.M. of Narrows and VFW Post #6000 of Narrows, and was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Broyles Shrader; a son, Joseph Haven Shrader of Simpsonville, S.C.; two daughters, Linda K. Shrader of Narrows and Sarah S. Je nkins of Baton Rouge, La.; three sisters, Evelyn Bailey and Irene Wills of Ypsalanti, Mich., and Jody Shepherd of Narrows; six grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows, with the Rev. Robert Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, with graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #68 and VFW Post #6000. WALKER, Glenna Mae Bragg, 56, of Rainelle, W.Va., died Thursday, January 2, 1997, in Columbia Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, W.Va., following a six-month illness. Born on August 16, 1940, in Meadow Bridge, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Herbert Adam and Gladys Pugh Bragg. A resident of Rainelle for life, she was co-owner and bookkeeper of Tri-County Furniture of Rainelle and Covington, Va., and was a member of First Baptist Church of Rainelle, where she served as Sunday School teacher in the Nursery Department. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry Wetzel Walker. She is survived by her husband, W. B. (``Sonny"") Walker; two daughters, Gina Bennett of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lisa Jennings of Rainelle; one son, Wesley Walker of Covington; two sisters, Geraldine Diggs of Columbus, Ohio, and Geneva McGuire of Meadow Bridge, W.Va.; one brother, Hershel Bragg of Meadow Bridge, and adored by five grandchildren, Brittany and Casey Walker, Matthew and Caleb Bennett and Jared Jennings. Zion of Pensacola, Fla., Jerry R. and Barbara Zion of Feltwell, England, and Jimmy G. Zion; aunts, Jean Hatcher and Audrey Solvensky; and several nieces, nephews and cousin s. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 1997, at 11 a.m., from the Chapel of John M. Oakey and Son in Salem, with the Rev. Ira Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home
