KELLAHIN, Rev. Josephine Dorothy, 90, of 1488 Peters Creek Road and formerly of Richmond, Ind., died Thursday, January 2, 1997. She was born in Richmond, Ind., on December 24, 1906, a daughter of the late George Bartel and Esther Sitloh Bartel. She was a member of Roanoke United Metaphysical Chapel and a retired school teacher with the Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Martin Kellahin. She is survived by her brother, H. Charles Bartel of Richmond, Ind.; a niece, Natalie Swain of Richmond, Ind., and the Rev. Ruth Palmer, a special friend with whom she resided. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 1997, at the Roanoke United Metaphysical Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. F. MARTIN, John Dennis, 66, of Fincastle, died Friday, January 3, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Martin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Carl Salmon of Blue Ridge, Barbara and Blaine Martin of Rich mond, and Doris and Lonnie Quinn of Troutville; two stepsons, Curtis Lee Coleman of Vicker, Bobby Ray Coleman of Dublin; two brothers, Ralph Martin of Check, Ross Martin of Salem; five sisters, Lois Mack of Salem, Bessie Price, Lillian Early both of Moneta, Una Dooley of Fincastle, Wanda Bowman of Bridgewater; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at the Rader Daleville Chapel with the Rev. Mitchell Luckie officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Dale Memorial Park. MARTIN, Margaret Bates, 82, of Lexington, died Saturday, January 4, 1997, in Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center in Buena Vista. She was born on November 25, 1914, in Churchville, a daughter of the late Eugene Hutcheson Buchanan and Margaret Bear Buchanan. Mrs. Martin had taught in the Rockbridge County School System. She was a member of Lauderdale AR Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred T. Bates and James J. Martin. She also was preceded in death by a son, Fred T. Bates, and a daughter, Laura Bates Runkle. Survivors include one son, E. Buchanan Bates of Rockbridge Baths; one daughter, Roberta B. Fauber of Vesuvius; three sisters, Eugenia Hatcher of New Mexico, Elizabeth Burnley of Richmond and Anne McCorkle of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 1997, at New Providence Presbyterian Church in Raphine, with the Rev. Deborah H. Klein and the Rev. Zeb Carson Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 6, at the home of Buck and Diane Bates in Rockbridge Baths. MEADOWS, Charles Richard, 93, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 1997 just a few minutes after the New Year began at his home. He was the son of the late Mack Henry Meadows and Bertha Saunders Meadows. He received his early education in the Roanoke Schools and has been a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church (now Greater Mt. Zion) since childhood. As a member of the Trustee Board, he used great leadership in an advisory capacity as the new church was built in Northeast, and in just a few years had to be razed and relocated to its present site on Grayson Ave., N.W. He has worked zealously with his church in many capacities throughout the years, and is highly esteem and respected for his work in the Valley Baptist Association. He has made great contributions to the religious life in the Roanoke Valley. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Mrs. Carrie Meadows. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway - East End Shop, after many years of faithful service. Those left to survive his death and rejoice in his memory are four sons, Dr. Richard H. Meadows of Richmond and Roanoke, Ralph (Margaret) Meadows, Silver Springs, Md., Frank (Juanita) Meadows, Lake Charles, La., and Donald (Shirley) Meadows, Upper Marlboro, Md.; one daughter, Dorothy Meadows Yancey of Massachusetts and Roanoke; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, John Meadows, Warrensville, Ohio; one sister, Mary Meadows; and one nephew, Rev. James Meadow, both of Philadelphia; devoted cousins, Marilyn L. Curtis and Bobby Clarke and extended members of the Claude L. Clarke Family and other relatives. Even during his illness his mind was keen and alert and he was known for his philosophies of life and he held his companions spellbound, especially regarding the early life in the Northeast Neighborhood and its history. Funeral services will be Monday, January 6, 1997 at 2 p.m. at the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Cedric Malone officiating. The interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Friends may also call at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home on Sunday for viewing.

MEADOWS, Kathryn L., (``Sis""), 75, of Peterstown, W.Va., died Friday, January 3, 1997 at a home health care facility in Glen Lyn, Va. She was born May 21, 1921 at Princeton, W.Va. and was the daughter of the late Ezra and Nannie Lambert. Mrs. Meadows had worked for 15 years at Leggett in Pearisburg, Va. before her retirement. She was a member of the Peterstown United Methodist Church in Peterstown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Meadows Sr.; three brothers, Lloyd, Charles and Paul ``Bus"" Lambert; two sisters, Hazel Lockhart and Ethel Cockerham. Survivors include one son, Frank Meadows Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Hillsborough, N.C.; one daughter, Donna Spitler and her husband, Lee of Boones Mill, Va.; one sister, Daisy Noble of Peterstown, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Kathy Jancso, Stephen Jancso, Brian Meadows, and Jennifer Meadows; one great grandson, Michael Jancso. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 6, 1997 at the Broyles-Shrewsburg Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, with Dr. John Sauvage officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum at Princeton, W.Va. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, W.Va. MOREHEAD, Charles Washington Jr., 69, of Rt. 1, Dublin, died Saturday morning, January 4, 1997 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Alexander. He was born in Dublin, Va. on May 19, 1927 and was the son of the late Charles W. Morehead and Cleopatra Porterfield Morehead. He was a member and Elder at the Dublin Presbyterian Church. Surviving are several cousins and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, from the Dublin Presbyterian Church with Dr. Manson B. Tate and assisted by Bishop Sam Chupp. Burial will follow in the Old Dublin Cemetery. Visiting will be Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski. NASH, Jeanette B., 80, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, January 4, 1997. She was the widow of Herbert C. Nash. Jeanette's life centered around her family and her little Yorkie, Precious. She had a great love of fishing and wildlife. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, June J. and Thomas W. Bell of Roanoke, and Carolyn I. and Clay Harlowe of Boones Mill; grandson, Bobby Fronk and wife, Treva; great-grandson, Ryan William Fronk, and sisters, Elsie Robbins, Addie Thomas and Eunice Denny, all of Roanoke. Graveside services will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. Monday, January 6, 1997. Fr. Tim Huffman will officiate. Jeanette requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Roanoke Valley S.P.C.A. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel after 1 p.m. Sunday, where the family will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

iRHUDY, Dora Cartwright, 98, of Pensacola, Fla., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., died Friday, January 3, 1997, in Pensacola. She was preceded in death by a son, David Cartwright Witten. Surviving are three daughters, Frances Patterson and Lynne Rhudy of Pensacola and Barbara Comer of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the graveside in Fairview Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 1997, with the Rev. Walter M. Lockett Jr. officiating. WEBB, John Christopher, 42, of Roanoke, died Thursday, January 2, 1997 of a brain tumor. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Roanoke Council #562, a member of the Church of the Transfiguration where he served as a CCD Instructor, the Steering Committee, and various other positions within the church. John will be remembered for the love and kindness he shared with everyone he encountered. He is survived by his wife, Linda J. Webb; three daughters, Jeannine Webb, Samantha Webb, and Kathryn Webb all of the home; one sister, Michelle DaRos of Dearborn, Mich.; three brothers, Gregory Webb of Glenview, Ill., Timothy Webb of Bemidji, Minn., Michael Webb of Anchorage, Alaska; mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Novrocki of Brighton, Minn. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 6, 1997 at the Church of the Transfiguration with Father Lawrence Mullaney officiating.
