A 4-year-old Bedford County girl was hit by a car in a cul-de-sac near her home Sunday afternoon and died soon after.
Lauren Paige Cobb of Boonsboro had been playing in her driveway with two other girls just before the accident occurred, Trooper R.G. Snead said. About 2:50 p.m., Lauren ran to a neighbor's driveway, apparently to get some rocks.
The neighbor, who was backing his car out, couldn't see Lauren because a pickup truck parked in the cul-de-sac blocked his view, Snead said.
Lauren was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to Lynchburg General Hospital.
Snead said there probably will not be any charges filed.
