GUNMAN BREAKS INTO HOTEL ROOM

A man forced his way into a room at a south Roanoke County motel late Monday, holding the guest at gunpoint and stealing his wallet.

Roanoke County police said a tenant at the Parkway Motel at 5006 Franklin Road answered a knock at his door about 11:30 p.m. When he opened the door, a man holding a shotgun forced his way inside.

The motel guest grabbed the gun, which discharged as he and the robber struggled. No one was injured. The shot hit a wall in the motel room. The robber took the guest's wallet, which was on a nearby dresser, and fled.
