Heath Bralley scored five of his 24 points in overtime Wednesday night to lift Fort Chiswell to a 77-75 victory over Auburn in a non-district basketball game at Fort Chiswell.
Auburn (2-7) gained the extra period when Adam Loveday scored underneath just before the end of regulation to tie the score 68-68.
The Eagles scored the first five points of the extra frame but Bralley made one of his five 3-pointers then added a pair of free throws as Fort Chiswell (2-7) regained the lead.
Loveday scored 24 for Auburn and Josh Vaughan added 10.
James Monroe (W.Va.) 82, Narrows 81: The Mavericks pulled out a victory in Narrows to spoil a 36-point effort by the Green Wave's Joe Shipbaugh.
Narrows (4-4) led James Monroe (6-1), West Virginia's sixth-ranked Class AA team, by four points in the fourth quarter. The Mavericks got within a bucket, then took the lead on a 3-point play by Anthony Raines off an inbounds play with 50 seconds left.
Shawn Agee made three free throws down the stretch to seal it for James Monroe. He finished with 25 points. Shipbaugh made three 3-pointers in scoring a career-high.
Martinsville 74, Franklin County 70: Leander Preston scored 11 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs held off the Eagles for a non-district win in Rocky Mount.
Martinsville led 62-60 midway through the fourth quarter before going on a 7-0 run to take control.
Henry Eggleston led the Eagles with 16 points.
Parry McCluer 66, Roanoke Catholic 43: The Fighting Blues ran up a 10-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back in winning a non-district game at Roanoke Catholic.
David Downs scored 18 points for Parry McCluer. Terron Reed led the Celtics (2-7) with 16 points.
George Wythe 48, Radford 23: Bryant Jones scored 17 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Maroons overwhelmed the Bobcats in a non-district contest in Wytheville.
Justin Bourne added 10 points for George Wythe (6-3). Tony Hash scored eight points to lead Radford (5-3).
Girls
Cave Spring 74, Franklin County 56: Amy Causey scored 17 points and Amber Neil added 13 as the Knights bounced back from Saturday's loss to Pulaski County with a Roanoke Valley District win over the Eagles in Rocky Mount.
Cave Spring (7-1, 1-1) shot out to a 17-2 lead over turnover-plagued Franklin County after one quarter. Tasha Williams led the Eagles (3-6, 0-1) with 13 points.
