HEATER BLAMED IN BLACKSBURG HOUSE FIRE

No one was hurt in a house fire Wednesday night that caused damage estimated at $25,000. Blacksburg Fire Chief Keith Bolte said 23 firefighters fought the fire that damaged the kitchen and den of the house at 1645 Bishop Road. Carrie Surface returned home about 8:20 p.m. to find the house on fire, he said.

A wall-mounted electrical heater that malfunctioned probably started the fire, Bolte said.
