CAVS EXPECT COMMITMENT FROM SAFETY

Defensive back Devon Simmons, a two-time All-Richmond Metro selection from Highland Springs High School, is expected to announce today that he will sign a football letter of intent with Virginia.

Simmons said Sunday night he was leaning toward the Cavaliers and, barring a change of heart, would commit today.

Simmons, a 6-foot, 195-pounder expected to play safety, has visited UVa and Virginia Tech. He was rated the No.13 prospect in the state by The Roanoke Times and would be the highest-rated in-state prospect to commit to the Cavaliers.

Simmons, who played linebacker as a sophomore and running back as a junior, has been timed in 10.9 seconds for 100 meters. He had 78 tackles this past season and is expected to play safety in college.
