REYNOLDS PUMPS IN 36

Corey Reynolds scored 16 of Patrick County's 18 points during a third-quarter rally, then hit a 3-pointer to put the Cougars in front to stay in overtime Monday as they claimed a 67-66 victory over Fieldale-Collinsville in a Piedmont District game in Collinsville.

Reynolds, a senior point guard, finished with 36 points to lead the Cougars to the victory in Stuart. Aaron Hill scored 12 points and Corey Rucker added 11.

Joey (23) and Marco Taylor (16) combined for 39 of Fieldale-Collinsville's points. Brad Bodkin added 13 for the Cavaliers, who led by eight points at halftime.

Blacksburg 71, Alleghany 61: The Indians parlayed double-figure scoring from five players and a 17-point halftime lead into a Blue Ridge District victory over the Mountaineers in Low Moor.

Matt Maher led Blacksburg with 16 points, Philip Klaus scored 13, Stefano Karmis and Lee Smith had 11 each and Phillip Hanbury added 10.

Casey Burks scored 28 points and Travis Davis added 18 for Alleghany.

Pulaski County 74, Roanoke Catholic 52: The Cougars handled the Celtics easier the second time around by shooting 53 percent from the floor and placing four players in double figures to win a non-district game at Dublin.

Pulaski County (6-3), which needed overtime to win at Roanoke Catholic in the season opener last month, jumped ahead 24-5 and led 66-32 after three quarters.

Ron Branch scored 14 points for the Cougars, J.R. Brown had 12 and Dorian Hendricks and Robert Rogers 11.

Brendan McCarthy scored 17 for the Celtics and Terron Reed 11.

Hargrave Military 63, Carlisle 59: Marty Stanley scored a game-high 23 points, but his Chiefs were unable to overcome an early eight-point deficit in a Virginia Independent Conference game in Chatham.

Mike Cheatam came off the bench to lead Hargrave (2-6, 2-5) with 15 points and eight rebounds. Jon Cruickshank added 13 points.

Chad Martin had 13 points for Carlisle (4-3, 3-3). The Chiefs' leading scorer, Lamont Franklin, missed the game for unspecified reasons.

Pocahontas (W.Va.) 69, Bath County 49: Bryan Mickle and Chris Cole each scored 22 points and combined for 10 3-pointers to beat the Chargers at Pocahontas, W.Va.

Mickle made six 3-pointers for Pocahontas (4-4), Cole four.

Adam Grist scored 26 points and made six 3-pointers for Bath County (5-3).

Girls

Roanoke Valley Christian 89, Carlisle 13: Gina Guthrie scored 25 points and had eight steals as the Eagles routed the Chiefs in a Blue Ridge Conference game.

Roanoke Valley Christian (12-4, 4-1) came away with 30 steals against Carlisle, which was outscored 53-6 in the second half and did not score in the fourth quarter.

Rebecca Bryant and Nia Douglas scored 17 points for the Eagles, Lauren McKee added 14 and three 3-pointers and Tiffany Dobbs scored 10.
