The American Association of University Women, Blacksburg Area Branch, the Science and Gender Equity Program and the Women's Center at Virginia Tech present the 5th annual Educational Equity Conference Jan. 28. The event will be at the Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public. Teachers, parents, administrators and college students and faculty are encouraged to attend. Jan. 28 is a teacher's workday for Montgomery County Public Schools.
The program will focus on the topic of "girls in the middle: working to succeed in school." Workshops will include innovative teaching strategies, empowering our daughters, gender equity and the law and meeting the needs of gifted girls. There also will be round-table discussion. Keynote speaker will be Nancy R. Crouch of Wake Forest University.
