Bedford County's Board of Supervisors and School Board have elected new leaders.
Lucille Boggess, the supervisors' new chairwoman, and Stanley Butler, the new School Board chairman, represent the county's 7th District, an area surrounding Bedford city.
Boggess, a former commissioner of revenue, is the only woman on the seven-member Board of Supervisors. She is in her second term on the board and was vice chairwoman last year.
She succeeds Tony Ware, who was elected vice chairman.
Butler, who is serving his first term on the School Board, is vice president of a label company. He has four children in Bedford schools, and his wife is a county teacher.
He and Shirley McCabe, the new vice chairwoman, were elected to the board last year.
