IN SCHOOL WEST

TIMOTHY CAMPBELL, son of Peggy Campbell, and NICKY STROCK II, daughter of Lynn Strock, both of Roanoke, are two of 20 high school graduates who have won scholarships from First Union Corp. These scholarships can be up to $4,000 a year for four years.

Winners were chosen from the employees' children and stepchildren based on financial need and academic excellence. This is the first year of First Union's scholarship program.

THE PATRICK HENRY HIGH SCHOOL FORENSICS TEAM has won several debates early in the forensics season. Individual honors were earned by four Patrick Henry students at the University of Georgia Debate Tournament. Yaron Rachlin was the undefeated tournament champion in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate. Trip Creech and Latisha Sinkford both tied for third in Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate. In Varsity Policy debate, Jennifer Rogers tied for fifth out of more than 160 debaters.
