WILLIAMS, PULASKI CO. KEEP ROLLING

Trina Williams scored 23 points as Pulaski County upended Franklin County 70-47 in a Roanoke Valley District girls' basketball game Saturday night in Dublin.

Mandy Sexton added 12 points for the district-leading Cougars (10-1, 2-0).

Kelly Preston paced the Eagles (3-8, 0-3 RVD) with 12 points.

Boys

Highland 64, Franklin 59 (W.Va.): Unbeaten Highland continued its run through West Virginia basketball teams by rallying in the final quarter to whip Franklin.

The Rams (8-0) were led by Bryan Werner with 20 and Jacob Hull with 17. Highland owns only one victory against a Virginia high school team. All the others have come at the expense of West Virginia teams.

Covington 65, Alleghany 52: Covington earned a split of the season series with rival Alleghany as Erwin Twitty hit 11 of 12 free throws in the final quarter to help the Cougars (3-6) pull away.

Twitty wound up with a game-high 30 points and hit 16 of 18 free throws for the night.

Alleghany (3-9) was led by Travis Davis with 18 points and Ramey Pendleton with 17.
