FIELD TRIP BEGINS WITH 'FUN'

Third-graders at Riner Elementary School have an exciting field trip coming up. The children entered and won the Third Grade Winter Mural contest sponsored by Fun Challenge. The winning mural was a collage of children enjoying a wintery day outside. The project was completed during Mrs. Francisco's art classes. The collage was on display for a month at Fun Challenge. It is on display at the school.

The winning prize is an all-day field trip to Fun Challenge for the entire third grade class. Children in Mrs. Hendricks, Mrs. Horton and Mrs. Adams classes will attend the day trip.

Radford High School has established a memorial scholarship in memory of Susan C. Teany. Teany was the school's librarian for 28 years. She died in August 1996. Teany epitomized qualities that the school hopes to instill in its students: a love of learning, interest in others and a compassionate heart.

The school expects to award its first scholarship this year to a graduating senior. On-going contributions, which are tax deductible, are being taken for the memorial scholarship. Contributions can be sent to Radford High School - Susan C. Teany Memorial, 50 Dalton Drive, Radford, Va. 24141.
