ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Roanoke Valley new car dealers registered 8,514 new cars last year, a gain of 3.8 percent from the 8,200 sold in 1995, according to the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association. Except for the 9,161 cars reported in 1994, it was the best year since 1988 for area dealers.

In December, 724 new cars were registered, an increase of 23.3 percent from 587 in November and 43.4 percent more than the 505 registered in the same month a year earlier.
