Josh Williamson scored a game-high 30 points Tuesday night as Glenvar handed Giles its first Three Rivers District loss of the season, 73-67, in a boys' game in Pearisburg.
Williamson was 12-of-18 from the free-throw line as Glenvar (5-9 overall, 2-1 district) went 31-for-43.
Robbie Claytor and Ben Brown scored 17 points apiece for the Spartans (7-6, 2-1).
Carlisle 67, North Cross 57: The Chiefs broke open a close game in the third quarter to pull away for a Virginia Independent Conference victory in Martinsville.
Carlisle (5-5, 4-3), which led 30-29 at the half, outscored the Raiders 25-10 in the third quarter as Russ Mason scored 10 points and pulled down five rebounds for the Chiefs in the period.
Marty Stanley had 17 points to lead Carlisle. North Cross (3-7, 2-5), which had nine 3-point field goals in the game, was led by Jeff Bosett's 17 points.
Covington 83, Craig County 79, OT: Erwin Twitty scored six of his 18 points in overtime, leading the Cougars to a Pioneer District opening victory on the road.
Craig County (1-6, 0-2) rallied in the fourth quarter behind Dwayne Crawford, who scored 26 points. Tracy Walker paced all scorers with 28 points for Covington (4-6, 1-0).
Roanoke Catholic 51, Timberlake Christian 42: The Celtics relied on a strong inside game to win a Virginia Independent Conference game in Lynchburg.
Terron Reed had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Roanoke Catholic (5-9, 4-2), which pulled away in the fourth quarter. Brendan McCarthy added 10 points for the Celtics.
Girls
North Cross 52, Grace Christian 44: Michele Hamilton scored 17 points and Ann Ballenger added 15 as the Raiders held off Grace Christian in a non-district game at North Cross.
Krista Summers paced Grace Christian (13-2) with 14 points and Martha Shawker added 12. Hamilton also had 15 rebounds for North Cross (6-4).
Timberlake Christian 51, Roanoke Catholic 41: Debby Phillips scored 27 points to lead Timberlake (3-8, 3-8) past the visiting Celtics (2-12, 1-7) in a Blue Ridge Conference game in Lynchburg.
Christy Hinman led Roanoke Catholic with 10 points.
