Derek Saunders led a balanced attack with 18 points as Floyd County, the state's top-ranked Group A team, defeated Radford 66-58 on Wednesday night in a Three Rivers District boys' game in Radford.
Jason Dalton had 17 points, Travis Cantrell 14 and Adam Harris 10 for the Buffaloes (14-0 overall, 4-0 district).
Radford (5-4, 1-1) cut its deficit to four points with 50 seconds to play, but Floyd County converted its free throws.
Galax 57, Rocky Gap 47: Michael Shumate had a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Maroon Tide (7-5, 4-0) beat the Eagles (3-8, 1-4) in a Mountain Empire District game in Galax. Matthew Akers and Kenny Shrader scored 12 points each for Rocky Gap.
Covington 75, Highland 62: The Cougars switched defenses in the third quarter to seize control of a Pioneer District game against the Rams in Covington. Erwin Twitty had 29 points to lead the Cougars, and Bryan Werner had 22 for Highland.
