Floyd artist's work on display in Pulaski

PULASKI - Floyd artist Kazhia Kolb has an exhibit of her work through Jan. 31 at the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley in its Pulaski gallery.

"Colors" features work inspired by the ever-changing colors of the environment in the Floyd County countryside.

"I try to convey the dramatic visual qualities inherent in our everyday surroundings," she said. "The subject of my painting is traditional in that it explores the dynamics of light as it reveals or reshapes forms and subtly alters the color of objects."

Kolb has studied at Indiana University, the University of Notre Dame and, in Paris, L'Ecole des Beaux Arts and Universitie de la Sorbonne. Recent shows of her work have included Shenandoah Valley Art Center at Waynesboro, New River Community College, Chateau Morisette, Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center at Clifton Forge, and Somerhill Gallery, Chapel Hill, N.C.
