EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION SESSIONS

Greenvale School in Roanoke is offering its early childhood education workshops to teachers and parents in the Roanoke and New River valleys and surrounding areas.

``Child-Care Providers ... You Can Help Stop Violence!'' will take place Wednesday. The program emphasizes how family violence affects children's behavior in the child-care environment, provides steps that providers and parents can take to prevent violence and ways to avoid violence in adulthood.

``Exploring Weighty Matters'' will be given Feb. 26. This workshop offers innovative ideas and activities designed to reawaken children's curiosity, direct it toward exploring the environment and encourage children toward self-discovery.

``Creative Learning,'' offered March 26, concentrates on teacher-made games and activities that help preschoolers learn basic skills and concepts at their own pace, emphasizes the importance of games and communicates a way of thinking so parents and teachers will be able to modify, choose or avoid old games and invent new ones.

All workshops was open to the public and will be held 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Greenvale School, 627 Westwood Blvd. N.W. For more information, call 342-4716.
