Roanoke bowler Mike Turk wiped out 22 years of frustration and the friendly ribbing of a son Wednesday night with his first-ever 300 game.
Turk, who carries a 192 average in the AMF Hilltop Lanes Bowling Green league, sandwiched his perfect game between a 199 and a 201, giving him a 700 set for the evening.
``I've taken a perfect game into the 10th frame twice before, but I've never rolled a 300 until now,'' said Turk, who took up the sport two decades ago. ``My son bowled one in his first year and has been telling me about it ever since, saying I wouldn't ever catch him. It took me two years to do it, but I've got the bragging rights now.''
Turk added that his 300 game provided the push his team needed to remain atop the league standings.
``If I would have rolled my normal game, we would have ended up losing tonight. Instead we're still in first place.''
