The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is warning residents not to give money to anyone asking for donations in its name.
Sheriff Doug Marrs said he has heard from several people who received phone calls requesting money to support the Sheriff's Office. The only organization Marrs uses for solicitations is the Sheriff's Association, he said.
Marrs said if people do get calls asking for money, they should make sure it is a legitimate cause by calling the organization mentioned.
