Landmark buys CI Impressions

NORFOLK - Landmark Communications Inc., parent of The Roanoke Times, has bought an 80 percent stake in CI Impressions, a photography, on-line services and software business. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CI Impressions, with headquarters in Greensboro, N.C., specializes in the religious market. Landmark said its new subsidiary will be renamed Landmark Community Interests.

Bankruptcies

Five bankruptcies with business affiliations have been filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Western Virginia at Roanoke. Three of them are personal bankruptcies that the court listed as businesses because they have commercial connections and could be of interest to business creditors and customers.

Joseph Chiang Jr. and Suellen Chiang of Roanoke filed for liquidation with assets of $15,390 and liabilities of $101,162. They delivered the Richmond Times-Dispatch and Charlottesville Daily Progress on a rural route in Orange County.

James A. Dean of Jonesville, a farmer, filed for reorganization and protection from creditors. He estimated both assets and liabilities at less than $50,000.

Jack William Hobbs of Roanoke, a partner in Rose Land Development Partnership of Wilmington, N.C., filed for liquidation with assets of $75,739 and liabilities of $369,778.

S. James Johnston of Roanoke, who has an interest in Johnston Lumber & Logging Co., filed for liquidation with assets of $204,900 and liabilities of $209,555.

Larry D. Perdue of Vinton, who trades as Impressive Carpet Cleaning, filed for liquidation with assets of $42,950 and liabilities of $52,292.
