CELEBRATIONS - WEDDINGS

Atkins-Hull

Connie Sue Hull and Steven Michael Atkins were married November 9, 1996 at Airlee Court Baptist Church by Rev. John Hamric. A reception immediately followed the ceremony.

The bride was escorted to the alter by her father, Robert Hull. The matron of honor was Donna Hull, sister-in-law of the bride. The bridesmaids were Dana Johnston, friend of the bride, and Karen Shott, sister of the groom. Junior bridesmaid was Carmen Hull, niece of the bride.

The best man was John Atkins, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Jay Caywood and Mike Davis, both friends of the groom. The ushers were Drew Shott and Jay Shott, nephews of the groom. The soloist was Wayne Hull, brother of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Robert and Betty Hull of Salem, and a graduate of Salem High School. She is employed by Lowe's Home Centers, Inc.

The groom is the son of Johnny and JoAnn Atkins of Bluefield, WV and is a graduate of Bluefield High School and Bluefield State College. He is employed by Paper Supply Co.

The newlyweds will live in Roanoke after their honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico.

Bass-Greer

Melanie Dawn Greer of Hardy, Virginia and 2nd Cl. Petty Officer Kerry L. Bass of Anniston, Alabama were united in marriage December 30, 1996 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The bride is the daughter of Richard and Carla Greer of Hardy. The groom is the son of Mrs. Mary Bass of Anniston, Alabama and the late Mr. Bass

Collin-Bonner

Lisa Ann Bonner and Dr. Gary Richard Collin were united in marriage at 6 p.m. on January 11, 1997 at the couple's home in Southwest Roanoke. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ben C. Rogers.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Alba of Roanoke. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Collin of Guttenberg, New Jersey. Immediately following the ceremony, a dinner reception was held at La Maison Restaurant in Roanoke.

The bride's daughter, Brittany Leigh Bonner, served as maid of honor. Best man was Bruce E. Collin, groom's brother.

The bride is a graduate of Central Virginia Community College, Lynchburg. She is employed by Blue Ridge Respiratory Care. The groom is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Washington University of St. Louis School of Medicine, and is currently Associate Director of Trauma of the Carilion Health System.

Following a honeymoon at the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa in Ft. Myers, Florida, the couple will make their home in Roanoke.

Frazier-Beckner

Janice Marie Beckner and Randall Hurt Frazier were united in marriage with a double-ring ceremony October 19, 1996 at First United Methodist Church in Salem, Virginia with Reverend Thomas L. Joyce officiating. A dinner reception followed in the Roanoke Ballroom of Hotel Roanoke.

Th e bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents, Mr. Ronnie Beckner of Buchanan and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hartberger of Buchanan. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Smusz of Vinton and the late Mr. Ed Frazier of Vinton.

The matron of honor was Rhonda Tlockowski, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Whitney Frazier, daughter of the groom, and Carol Arbogast, Julie Haxton, and Trina Mitchell, friends of the bride. Jennifer Frazier, niece of the groom, was the flowergirl. Guestbook attendants were Amanda Beckner, niece of the bride, and Sarah Frazier, niece of the groom.

James Frazier, son of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Ronnie Cox of NC, friend of the groom, Keith Frazier, brother of the groom, Marshall Frazier, brother of the groom, and Richard Vernon of KY, friend of the groom. The ushers were Phillip Beckner, Vic Beckner, and Randy Beckner, brothers of the bride. The ringbearer was Joshua Beckner, nephew of the bride.

Scripture readings were quoted by Kay Frazier, sister of the groom, and Alvis Hopper, uncle of the groom.

Special harp music was performed by Song Hee Uhm. The organ was played by A. Robert Chapman for the processional and recessional; he also accompanied Tim Duff during his solo of ``The Lord's Prayer''.

The bride attended James River High School and Virginia Western Community College. The groom is a graduate of Thomas Dale High School and Virginia Military Institute.

Following their honeymoon in Indonesia and Thailand, the couple is living in Salem.

The couple would like to thank everyone again for all their time and effort that went into making their day even more special.

Hayes-Meyer

Jan Sheryl Meyer and Perry Spencer Hayes were married November 2, 1996 in First Baptist Church, McComb, MS. Dr. Jimmy Porter and Rev. Gary Shows officiated. The reception was held at Kramer Roof.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Stacy Stovall, friend. The bridesmaids were Miss Catherine Grimes, friend; Miss Lynn Hayes, sister of the groom; Mrs. Missey Hayes, Mrs. Beth Mock and Mrs. Jill Taylor, all friends.

The best man was Mr. Donald Hayes, father of the groom. The ushers were Mr. Markham Healey, Mr. Steve Sadler, Mr. Mendy Katzman, and Mr. Don Wiener, all friends; Mr. Clay Meyer and Dr. Todd Meyer, brothers of the bride.

The guestbook was attended by Miss Kelly Mims.

The bride wore a diamond white gown of silk with Venise lace bodice. She carried a French-style bouquet with Leonidas roses with silver fern foliage with a brown velvet bow.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. an d Mrs. William H. Meyer of McComb, MS. She graduated from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS, and is employed by Morrow, Oates & Sanders Court Reporting Firm.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald S. Hayes of Blacksburg, VA. He is a graduate of Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA and the University of Memphis Law School in Memphis, TN. He is an assistant district attorney in Memphis, TN.

The newlyweds will live in Memphis, TN, after the wedding trip to Belize.

Perdue-Garlick

Angel Faith Garlick and Roger Scott Perdue were married January 18, 1997 at Big Spring Baptist Church in Elliston, Virginia. Rev. Todd F. Knock officiated. A reception honoring the couple was held in the church following the ceremony.

Angel was escorted by her father, Kenneth Garlick. The maid of honor was Emily Garlick, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Tammy Sapp, Kathy Dawson, Jamie Perdue, and Sharon Maxey.

Best man was Roger Perdue , father of the groom. Groomsmen were Tony Maxey, Jory Underwood, Patrick Underwood and Jason Spangler.

Flowergirls were Lauren Sapp and Rachel Caldwell. The ring bearer was Cody Underwood.

Music was provided by Mary Lou Hawley. Special songs were by Angel White. Linda Underwood was the wedding director. Guest book attendant was Michelle Jewell.

The bride wore an ivory satin gown with pearled and sequined flowers on the sleeves and bodice. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white lilies.

The bride is the daughter of Kenneth and Judy Garlick of Ironto, Va. She is the granddaughter of the late Lorine and Sam Alderman of Christiansburg, Va. She is also the granddaughter of Ada Garlick and the late Jesse Garlick of Ironto, Va.

Angel graduated from Shawsville High School as salutatorian of her graduating class. On December 12, 1996 she graduated from Radford University with an elementary education degree in interdisciplinary studies.

Scott is the son of Roger and Janice Perdue of Lafayette, Va. He is the grandson of Gaylord and Doris Jewell and Evelyn Perdue and the late Leroy Perdue.

Scott is a graduate of Shawsville High School and also attended Virginia Western College. He is a member of the U.S. Air Force and stationed at Pope Air Force Base, N.C. After a honeymoon trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, the couple will reside in Fayetteville, N.C.

Robertson-Gue

Tami Elizabeth Gue and Frank Otis Robertson, Jr. were joined in marriage December 31,1996, with Judge Stoller officiating.

The bride was given in marriage by Rhonda Bell, sister of the bride, and Joni Elaine Robertson, daughter of the bride and groom.

Chris Nininger, cousin of the groom, was best man.

A lunch reception in honor of the couple was hosted by Chris and Tracie Nininger at The Hotel Roanoke.

The couple will reside in Roanoke.

Sieberhagen-Kirk

Donna Leigh Kirk and Timothy William Sieberhagen were married December 28, 1996 in Franklin Heights Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, VA. The Reverend Larry Holland and Dr. Donald Wilton officiated. The reception was held at the Patrick Henry Hotel.

The maid of honor was Ginger Kirk, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Dawn Wilson, Caroline Davis, and Jill Bennett. The flowergirl was Shelley Wilton.

The best man was Andrew Sieberhagen, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Dean Sieberhagen and Jeremy Sieberhagen, brothers of the groom; Cliff Kirk, brother of the bride; and Thomas Sieberhagen, nephew of the groom.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of ivory india silk and reembroidered French lace with a matching headpiece. The gown was designed and created by Nancy Farris of Roanoke.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Kirk of Gladehill, Va. She is a graduate of Ferrum College and is pursuing a Masters Degree in counseling at S.E.B.T.S., Wake Forest, N.C .

The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Sieberhagen of Grahamstown, South Africa, is a graduate of Rhodes University and is pursuing a Masters Degree in Divinity at S.E.B.T.S., Wake Forest, N.C.

The newlyweds will live in Wake Forest, N.C.

Thompson-Richardson

Christy Michelle Richardson and Adam Douglas Thompson were united in marriage on December 7, 1996 at Colonial Avenue Baptist Church with the Reverend Laney Mofield officiating.

The special music Christy and Adam chose was played by Tim Cline on the bagpipes.

The bride is the daughter of William Ross and Deborah C. Jackson of Salem. Christy graduated from Cave Spring High School and attended the College of Health Sciences; she is employed by Interstate Battery of Roanoke Valley.

The groom is the son of Douglas C. and Jane N. Thompson of Roanoke County. Adam graduated from Cave Spring High School and attended the College of Health Sciences and Virginia Western Community College. He is employed by the Roanoke County Police Department.

Amy Rader, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Wynona Young, cousin of the bride; Leigh Ann Thompson, sister of the groom. The flower girl was Cassi Young.

The best man was Douglas Thompson, father of the groom. Groomsmen were John Hoover and James Cady, Jr., friends of Adam and Christy. The ringbearer was Tyler Hoover.

After a reception at the Roanoke Marriott, the couple left for their honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean, and now make their home in Salem.
