Hodges anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hodges celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 25, 1997. The celebration was held at the Vinton War Memorial. It was given by their two children, William Hodges, Richmond, and Bonnie Richardson, Roanoke, son-in-law, Earl Richardson, and two good friends Edith Gallimore and Betty Thomas. The couple was married January 25, 1947, in Rocky Mount, Virginia.
They have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
They both have been retired from Precision Fabrics since July 1995.
We also want to thank them both for their love towards us, and bringing us up in a christian home.
Kincer anniversary
James and Cloie Kincer celebrated the ir 50th wedding anniversary on January 9, 1997. A celebration was hosted on January 12, 1997, by their children, Carolyn, Jimmy, Connie and Kathy.
Jim and Cloie have seven grandchildren, Chad, Amanda, Matthew, Seth, Jason, Justin and Zachary.
Jim retired from Hemmingway Trucking Co. Cloie kept house and devoted her life to her husband and children. They are both devoted grandparents.
Even though Jim's illness kept him in the hospital, his spirit was felt by all who attended
Kinsey anniversary
Warren and Bessie Deel Kinsey celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 23, 1997. A surprise family celebration was hosted by their children and grandchildren on Sunday, January 19, 1997, at the Homestead Resort. Their love and devotion has truly been an inspiration to our family. Best wishes for many more celebrations in the years ahead.
Marcum anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Marcum, Jr. (Rose and Junior) celebrated their 50th anniversary on Thursday, January 23, 1997. A dinner party was held at the Hotel Roanoke. It was sponsored by their children.
The couple was married in Williamson, W.Va. and honeymooned in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. Marcum is the former Rose Marie Smith.
Their children are Linda and Dale Bevins of Galena, Ohio; Carol and Ron Gilman of Delbarton, W.Va.; and Cindy and David Marcum of Roanoke. They have seven grandchildren.
Mr. Marcum is retired from Norfolk Southern and Mrs. Marcum is retired from Roanoke County Parks and Recreation. The Marcums have lived in Roanoke for the last twenty-nine years.

Mayfield anniversary
Ronald L. and Elsie C. Mayfield celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 4, 1997. The celebration was held at Belmont Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va. and was hosted by their children. The couple was married January 25, 1947 at Belmont Baptist Church. Dr. E. D. Poe performed the ceremony assisted by Rev. Harold Parker. They were residents of Roanoke for 18 yrs. and have lived in Vinton for 32 years. Mrs. Mayfield is the former Elsie Alline Campbell. Their children are Ronald Mayfield, Jr. of Jeddah, Saudia Arabia, Sherry M. Griffith of Roanoke, Va. and David W. Mayfield of Knoxville, Tn. They have five grandchildren. Mr. Mayfield retired as Chief Clerk in the Mechanical Dept. from Norfolk & Western Railway. Mrs. Mayfield retired as Benefits Counselor from Veterans Administration Regional Office. There were many family members and friends from out of town that attended.
Sigmon anniversary
Hugh and Jackie Sigmon celebrated their 50th anniversary on January 25, 1997. A family celebration was held at Steak & Ale and was hosted by their sons and wives; Ken and Karyn of Roanoke and Kevin and Betsy of Abingdon.
The couple was married January 25, 1947 in Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church. Both are life-long residents of Roanoke. They have 4 grandchildren: Hannah, Nathan, Christopher and Lauren. They are members of Grandin Court Baptist Church.
