GAME LEGISLATION IS WITHDRAWN

Legislation that called for three of the 11 members of the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to be nonhunters and nonfishermen has been withdrawn from the General Assembly docket by its sponsor, Del. Shirley Cooper, D-Yorktown.

The proposal was being monitored with concern by the Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation and had attracted phone calls from concerned outdoorsmen who pointed out that the agency is funded by hunters and fishermen.
