ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

The number of vehicles traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway's Roanoke district rose 6.28 percent in December compared to a year ago. Most of the vehicles entered through Virginia 24 east of Vinton and from U.S. 220 south of Roanoke, both with slightly more than 34,000 vehicles.

Parkway officials said overall traffic was down by 1.3 percent last year compared to 1995.
