BLACK ORGANIZATION HOLDS FUNDRAISER

Rebuilding the Black Community Inc. will hold its 1997 fund-raising kickoff Saturday at 1 p.m. at its offices, 2310 Melrose Ave. in Roanoke.

The organization's goal is to raise $10,000 to fund its free community education programs, including after-school tutoring, creative arts, critical thinking sessions, a food bank, a clothes closet and medical screenings.

The event includes an open house, a rummage sale and refreshments.
