BLUES TAKE MAT CROWN

Parry McCluer won four individual titles to capture the Pioneer District Wrestling Tournament crown in Buena Vista on Thursday with 159 points.

James River finished second with 152.5 points, followed by Bath County with 118 and Covington with 116. (Results in Scoreboard. B4)

* Christiansburg swept the Blue Ridge District boys' and girls' track meet championship Wednesday. The Blue Demon boys were led by Matt Nolan, who took the 1,000-meter title and was second in the 1,600. Laura Evans paced the Christiansburg girls, scoring firsts in the 3,200- and 1,600-meter runs.
