RAMS' 4TH QUARTER DOOMS CIRCLEVILLE

Bryan Werner and Tommy O'Hearn combined to score 23 of the Rams' 25 fourth-quarter points as Highland captured a non-district win over Circleville on Thursday in Circleville, W.Va.

The score was tied 46-46 after three quarters before Werner and O'Hearn took over. Werner finished with 23 points, Brad Armstrong added 16, Jake Hull 12 and O'Hearn 11 for Highland (10-2).

Jeremy Harper led Circleville with 18 points.

In other games Thursday:

John Battle 66, Rural Retreat 37: John Odom scored 14 points to lead a well-rounded effort as the Trojans manhandled the Indians in a Hogoheegee District battle in Bristol.

Mike Tate added 11 points for John Battle (4-10 overall, 3-4 district), which led 30-8 at halftime.

Jason Vipperman paced Rural Retreat (1-9, 1-4) with 11 points and Wayne Terry chipped in 10.

Holy Cross 62, North Cross 59: Abraham Hughes scored 14 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter as the visiting Gaels gained a Virginia Independent Conference win over the Raiders.

Bart Wheeler added 11 points for Holy Cross (13-9, 7-3).

Brandon LaCroix had 16 points to lead North Cross (4-9, 3-6). Jeff Baetz added 12 points, David Foster 10 and Andy Leffler handed out seven assists.

Wednesday's games

George Wythe 78, Fort Chiswell 61: Justin Bourne scored 17 points, including nine on 3-pointers, and the Maroons dispatched the Pioneers in Fort Chiswell.

Lance Goff added 12 points and Brian Barnes chipped in 10 for George Wythe, which outscored Fort Chiswell 22-8 in the third quarter.

Derrick Jackson scored 15 points for the Pioneers (7-6) and Jason Porter added 10 points and six blocks.

Pulaski County 82, Patrick Henry 14: Katrina Williams contributed 18 points and Lisa Skeens added 15 as the Cougars warmed up for a key Roanoke Valley District girls' game today against Cave Spring with an easy league victory over the Patriots.
