SEN. MALFOURD ``Bo'' Trumbo of Fincastle doesn't mince words. Usually, his colleagues don't have to scramble for dictionaries to understand him.
So perhaps it wasn't Trumbo, but the Division of Legislative Services which drafted his bill, that chose a word that so confused some legislators.
The word ``growler.''
The measure itself is straightforward enough. It would allow beer brewers to sell directly to consumers, who could carry the suds out in refillable containers - including growlers.
``Back home, '' Trumbo explained, ``we call them Mason jars.'' Simpler still, some folks in Franklin County call them jugs.
