SAVINGS BANK NAMES SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

RONALD E. BEW has been named senior vice president and commercial and professional banking manager at First American Savings Bank, a subsidiary of First American Corp. of Nashville, Tenn. Bew, who has more than 25 years' experience in the financial services industry, is responsible for commercial banking in the Roanoke area.

Bew was a retail banking manager for Charter Federal Savings Bank in Bristol, which was acquired by First American Corp. last year.

From 1994 to 1996, Bew was a small-business lending consultant to the U.S.-Russia Investment Fund in Moscow, which was chartered by Congress for private development and direct investment activities.

Also at First American, JOHN W. CLARKE has been elected to the board of directors. Clarke, who retired five years ago as regional executive officer for Dominion Bank's Blue Ridge region, is a partner in Catawba Capital Management Inc., an investment management firm based in Roanoke. Dominion Bank later was acquired by First Union Corp.

BANKING

DEANNA W. GORDON, superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools, and DAVID R. WHITE, president of White Tire Distributors in Roanoke, have been elected to the board of directors for Central Fidelity National Bank's Southwestern region.

BUSINESS SERVICES

CAROL DANIELSEN has joined Swift Print in Roanoke as a customer service and inside sales representative. Danielsen retired from Eastman Kodak Co.'s Office Products Division after 29 years in sales, training and customer service.

CHILD CARE

SUZANNE ANDERSON has been promoted to assistant director at Honeytree Early Learning Centers' Salem location. She began working at Honeytree in June as a teacher at the Lewis-Gale center.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The New Century Council board of directors has elected new officers: JIM RAKES, president of the National Bank of Blacksburg, and JOHN WILLIAMSON, vice president of Roanoke Gas Co., co-chairmen; KEN ANDERSON, president of Anderson Associates, and DAN CARSON, president of the Virginia division of American Electric Power Co., co-vice chairmen; DOUG McALLISTER of Virginia Tech, treasurer; and JANET NELSON, formerly a director of the Alleghany Highlands Economic Alliance, secretary.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Landis & Staefa, formerly Landis & Gyr, has announced several personnel changes as part of a reorganization. DAN CLARK, former Landis & Gyr service director for North America, is now the Virginia district manager. MICHAEL HUBBARD has been appointed location/operations manager for Roanoke. He most recently was the company's national operations manager in charge of companywide standardization. JOE WALDIN and KURT JOHNSON have joined the company as account executives.

HEALTH CARE

LOUIS A. PERROTT, a principal of Peak Performance Consultation in Roanoke, recently was installed president of the Virginia Psychological Association. He is past chairman of the association's public relations committee and chairman of the Academy of Clinical Psychology's finance committee.

Carilion Health System has combined its home health care services under one operation, Carilion Home Care Services. NANCY R. ROOT, previously director of Home Health Plus in Christiansburg, is director of home health services. EDWARD J. HEATH JR., former manager of Community Pharmacy and Medical Supply in Radford, is director of respiratory, pharmacy and equipment services. THERESA E. SMART, most recently manager of Community Home Care, is director of private duty and speciality services. TERRY G. TILLEY, previously supervisor in the Home Health Plus Hillsville office, is manager of private duty nursing in the New River Valley and Roanoke. RENEE M. POFF, most recently quality improvement coordinator for Home Health Plus in Christiansburg, is manager of home care services in the New River Valley.

JOHN D. VICK has joined SoftWise Inc. in Roanoke, a medical billing and insurance claims service, as director of marketing and sales. Vick, who has been in the health care industry for more than 20 years, has experience in administration, marketing, managed care, financial management and regulatory policy.

DR. JANICE E. LUTH has been recertified a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice. Luth practices medicine with Village Family Physicians Inc. in Moneta.

INSURANCE

JOHN F. RINGGOLD of Roanoke has been promoted to district manager of Modern Woodmen of America's Western Virginia agency. He previously was a district representative with Modern Woodmen for four years before his promotion. The fraternal life insurance society is based in Rock Island, Ill.

LAW

SUZANNE M. BARNETT of Seattle and formerly of Roanoke, has been elected judge of the Superior Court of the State of Washington for King County for a four-year term. After graduating from William Fleming High School in 1967 and Washington and Lee University's School of Law in 1981, Barnett was a law clerk to Judge Clyde Pearson, U.S. bankruptcy judge for the Western District of Virginia. She then practiced law in Houston and Seattle for 14 years, the last six at her own firm, Barnett MacLean.

MANUFACTURING

DEBRA P. WICKLINE has been promoted to regional sales manager of North American Housing Corp., where she has worked for three years. The Boones Mill company produces modular building components for home builders.

PERSONNEL

LISA RUTLEDGE has joined Express Personnel Services in Roanoke as a sales representative. Before joining Express, Rutledge was an elementary school teacher in Petersburg and Roanoke. Also, LYDIA CASSELL, who joined the company more than a year ago, has been promoted to personnel supervisor.

REAL ESTATE

JANET RIDDLEBARGER of Snyder Hunt in Blacksburg has been elected vice president/president-elect of the Virginia Apartment & Management Association Inc.

TRANSPORTATION

CHRISTOPHER D. McDONALD has joined the Virginia Department of Transportation's Salem office as assistant resident engineer. McDonald formerly was assistant resident engineer for the Saluda residency in the Fredericksburg District. He succeeds SCOTT HODGE, who has been promoted to resident engineer for VDOT's Fredericksburg residency.

WHOLESALE

LISA W. PARKER has been promoted to credit manager for Webb's Oil Corp., a wholesaler and retailer of petroleum products in Virginia and West Virginia. Parker, who joined the company in 1995, formerly worked in the consumer loan insurance division of First Union National Bank of Virginia.
