BOYD, Juanita Church, 79, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, February 1, 1997 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was the widow of Elton L. Boyd and was retired from Virginia Tech. Surviving are one daughter, Norma Jean Hurd, Topeka, Ka; two grandchildren, Tami Hurd, Topeka, Ka., Michael Hurd, Leawood, Ka.; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Shelby, and Spencer; and a sister, Gertrude Vaughan, Philadelphia, Pa. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sunset Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Richard H. Horne . COWLEY, Harry P., 90, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, February 1, 1997. Mr. Cowley was a member of Memorial Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, George William Cowley, and is survived by his wife, Gaynelle Cowley; his daughter, Peggy Allen Stem of Roanoke, and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, February 4, 1997, at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, with Pastor Ken Studer officiating. ELVIN, Thomas William, 53, of Lynchburg, died Sunday, February 2, 1997, at his residence. He was the husband of Aleta Terry Elvin. Mr. Elvin was born March 1, 1943, in Roanoke to the late George B. Elvin and the late Mary (``Polly"") Strickler Elvin. He was an engineer at Framatome Technologies Inc. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Woodall-Tharp Chapel. HENLEY, Martha Grimes, 92, of Hillsville, passed away Friday, January 31, 1997, in Radford Community Hospital. She was born January 21, 1905, in Carroll County, and was preceded in death by her husband, Van Burren Henley. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, February 3, 1997, at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, with interment in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. MOULSE, Wayne Stanley, 66, of Salem, died Sunday, February 2, 1997. He retired from General Electric Company in Salem in 1996 with 40 years of service. He was a member of IUE #161, a member and Past Master of Taylor Lodge #23 A.F.&A.M. and a member of OES #161 in Salem. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Douglas and May Wertz Moulse, and a nephew, Jerry Reich. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gay Carter Moulse; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory C. and Beverly R. Moulse, and Brandon D. and Wendy J. Moulse of Salem; three daughters and sons-in-law, L. Annette and J. Howard Turner of Troutville, Susan G. and Ray Thompson of Salem, and Sharon M. and C. Brian Kidd of Roanoke; one sister and brother-in-law, Loretta M. and Kolmer Reich of Roanoke; five grandsons, Tyler L. Nolen, Jordan B. Turner, Carter F. Doyle, Christopher Wayne Kidd and Nicholas H. Kidd; a granddaughter, Nicole E. Doyle, and two nieces and families. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday at Lotz Salem Chapel, with the Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park, with Masonic rites conducted at the graveside by Taylor Lodge #23 A.F.&A.M. SHUPE, Aaron Karl, 39, of 816 Hugh Avenue, Roanoke, died Saturday, February 1, 1997, at Gladys Spellman Nursing Home in Cheverly, Md. He was the son of Betty Jane Shupe of Roanoke and the late Garland Wiley Shupe. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 1997, at the Woodlawn Cemetery mausoleum in Bluewell, W.Va., with the Rev. Harold Russell officiating. SPANGLER, Clara Vest, 101, of Floyd, passed away Sunday, February 2, 1997. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Mary Vest, Copper Hill; two daughters-in-law, Velma Spangler and Mary Nester both of Floyd; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchidren; two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 1997 at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. STATON, Claudine W., 91, of Roanoke, died Sunday, February 2, 1997. She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church and the Senior Citizens Group of Waverly Place Baptist Church. She was a retired cafeteria worker from the Roanoke City Public Schools. She was the widow of William Talmadge Staton. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Betty S. and Sonny Long of Troutville; tw o grandchildren and their spouses, Jean and Todd McGuire of LaPlata, Md., and William and Julie Long of Largo, Fla.; a great-grandson, Talon McGuire, and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Long. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, with the Rev. John W. Fox and the Rev. Wayne C. Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Fair View Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
