Bath County broke open a close game with a strong second half Saturday to beat James River 55-37 and notch a Pioneer District victory in Hot Springs.
Adam Grist had 15 of his game-high 23 points in the second half when Bath County (9-5, 3-1) outscored the Knights 37-18.
Travis McGlothlin added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Chargers, who earned their fourth straight victory.
James River (5-10, 1-4) led 30-28 late in the third quarter when the Chargers went on an 11-0 spurt to take control.
Travis Blankenship led James River with 12 points and Quincy Springs added 10.

Tazewell 56, Pocahontas 50: Lee Wright scored a game-high 22 points and Tazewell recovered from a nine-point second quarter to hold off Pocahontas in a non-district game.
Will Horton added 16 points and David Blankenship chipped in 13 for the Bulldogs.
David Murphy paced the Indians with 18 points and Barry Thompson added 13.
Chilhowie 70, Rural Retreat 56: Joel Donnelly scored 21 points to pace four Warriors in double figures in a win against the Indians in a Hogoheegee District battle in Chilhowie.
Jerry Thompson scored 18 points, Earl Allen 16 and Steve Patton chipped in 10 for Chilhowie (7-10 overall, 7-1 district).
Todd Ridgeway paced Rural Retreat (1-10) with 12 points and Wayne Terry added 10.
George Wythe 84, Holston 54: The Maroons cleared the bench early en route to a Hogoheegee District triumph in Wytheville.
George Wythe (12-3, 7-1), which won its ninth straight game, raced out to a 23-6 lead in the first period. The Maroons coasted from there as 13 players scored for George Wythe.
Galax 61, Shawsville 50: The Maroon Tide rode a big third period to the Mountain Empire District victory in Galax.
Galax (10-6, 7-1), which led by six at the half, outscored the Shawnees 20-7 in the third quarter to build a 44-25 lead.
Michael Sumate had 19 and Nate Noel 11 for the Maroon Tide.
Chris Graham led Shawsville with 13, while Chance Hall added 11.
