The number of homes sold in the Roanoke Valley dropped 4 percent in January, to 238 closings, from 248 a year earlier. The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors on Monday listed 2,056 homes for sale at the end of the month. Properties spent an average of 90 days on the market, with buyers paying an average of 3.4 percent less than the listed price. The most expensive house sold for $575,000 after one day on the market. The least expensive listed for $25,000 and sold for $21,200 after 70 days. The median price of a home sold in the Roanoke Valley during January was $97,950.
