N.C. DRAWSTRINGS NO LONGER TIED UP

A Roanoke jury that studied sweat-pant drawstrings this week has rejected charges that a North Carolina company illegally copied another company's design.

"No infringement," said Robert Moore, the Roanoke lawyer who represented Asheboro Elastics Corp. of Asheboro, N.C.

The suit was filed in U.S. District Court by NFA Corp. of Brookline, Mass., a clothing maker that sells waistbands with built-in cord. The ruling lifts a restriction that severely limited to which manufacturers Asheboro could sell its version of the waistband-and-cord product, Moore said.
