TECH VOLLEYBALL HONORS ITS OWN

Virginia Tech volleyball head coach Stephanie Hawbecker and her staff honored the 1996 team and individual players for accomplishments during the season at a banquet Sunday night in Blacksburg.

The team recognized many in-season honors awarded to individual players, including Meredith Braine, who was named to the All-Atlantic 10 team; Laura Hanner, a GTE District III All-American; Britton Julian, Atlantic 10 rookie of the week; and Erika Kuhn, who recorded an uncommon triple-double (14 kills, 16 digs and 11 blocks vs. Massachusetts) during the season.

Members of the squad also were given postseason awards. Kuhn was named the Most Improved Player and Hanner received the PRIDE Award given to the best practice player. Braine received the Hokie Award, which honors the team's ideal player.
