``The Landscape of Dance,'' being staged at Hollins College on Feb. 20, will celebrate the influence of women on the world of modern dance.
At 2:30 p.m. a panel of teachers, performers and choreographers will share their perspectives on the history of modern dance and their own contributions. The discussion will be held in Babcock Auditorium of Dana Science Building.
Panelists include Viola Farber, former lead performer with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company; Gerri Houlihan, soloist with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet and founder of her own company; Betty Jones, founding member of the Jose Limon Dance Company; Sophie Maslow, founding member of the Martha Graham Dance Company, and other choreographers and dancer instructors.
Choreographer, teacher and dancer Jack Arnold will give the keynote address at 4:30 p.m. in duPont Chapel. Arnold was a member of the Philobus Dance Theatre. Following the convocation, a reception will be held in the Green Drawing Room of Main Building. The celebration ends with a concert at 8:15 p.m.
A buffet dinner will be served in the Botetourt Reading Room at 6:30 p.m., providing a chance to meet and visit with the dancers. Reservations are required.
