Tickets for the George Washington-Virginia Tech men's basketball game scheduled for Feb. 20 at the Smith Center in Washington, D.C., are sold out. The game will be televised live throughout the mid-Atlantic region by Home Team Sports.
Virginia Tech won the first meeting between the teams 45-43 on a last-second shot by Ace Custis on Feb. 4. George Washington (5-5 conference) is in third place in the Atlantic 10's West Division, one-half game behind Virginia Tech (6-5).
In other sports news in the region:
* Minor League Football News has ranked the Roanoke Rush the No.13 team in the country after last year's 12-2 season in which it finished third in the National Minor League. Over 400 teams were evaluated and the Down River Raiders of Michigan were named the No.1 team in the country.
* Ferrum will hold a canned food drive in conjunction with its Dixie Conference basketball doubleheader against Christopher Newport on Saturday at Ferrum. The Ferrum women will take on Christopher Newport at 2 p.m. and the men's teams will meet at 4. A men's alumni game also will be played. Admission to the games is free with the donation of any canned food item. The food will be delivered to the St. James Community Center in an effort to replenish the center's food pantry.
