NORTHSIDE EDGES CHRISTIANSBURG

Nat Franklin hit a key 3-pointer with less than a minute to play in overtime as Northside defeated Christiansburg 64-61 for a Blue Ridge District win in Christiansburg.

Franklin's basket put Northside up by four in the extra period, after the Demons had battled back to send the game into overtime. Mike Kazee, who had 19 points for Christiansburg, hit a shot with five seconds to play in regulation to tie the score at 49.

Parry McCluer 69, Bath County 58: Chip Coleman scored 19 points as the Fighting Blues held on for a Pioneer District victory in Buena Vista.

Grayson County 66, Fort Chiswell 57: Derek Phipps and Wes Self combined for 44 points as the Blue Devils won a Mountain Empire District game in Independence.

Glenvar 77, Auburn 55: Josh Williamson and Chris Evans combined for 45 points to lead the Highlanders to a Three Rivers District win in Riner.

Radford 58, Shawsville 38: The Bobcats broke away in the second and third quarters for a Three Rivers District victory in Radford.

Galax 70, Narrows 49: The Maroon Tide swept over the Green Wave in the first half and rolled to a Mountain Empire District victory in Galax. Scott Hall and Michael Shumate led Galax with 20 points each.

Pocahontas 79, Montcalm (W,Va.) 49: The Indians used a balanced attack as they surprised their visitors from across the state line in a non-district game.
