FRANKLIN KEY TO NORTHSIDE WIN

Nat Franklin hit a key 3-point goal with less than a minute to play in overtime Wednesday night as Northside beat Christiansburg 64-61 in a Blue Ridge District game on the Demons' floor.

Franklin's basket put Northside up by four points in the extra period, after the Demons had battled back to send the game into overtime. Mike Kazee, who had 19 points for Christiansburg (9-10 overall, 4-9 district), hit a shot with five seconds to play in regulation to tie the score at 49.

Franklin and James Bandy had 12 points for the Vikings (6-14, 6-7). Eric Lucas had 30 points for the Demons.

In other games:

Glenvar 77, Auburn 55: Josh Williamson and Chris Evans combined for 45 points to lead the Highlanders to a Three Rivers District victory in Riner.

Girls

Franklin County 65, Patrick Henry 53: Kelli Preston scored 23 points as the Eagles (6-10, 2-5) downed the Patriots for a Roanoke Valley District victory. Keeda Hale scored 14 points for Patrick Henry (3-15, 0-8).
