Maybe you wondered, as we did, what happened when Chuck Lee of Blacksburg opened his Current on Feb. 1 and saw his high school football picture with a special birthday message on it (see clipping at right).
"It took him forever to open the paper, and then he just said, 'Unbelievable. Now everybody will know how old I am!' But he loved it. And the response has been tremendous. He's still getting cards!" said his wife of almost 28 years, Tina. She collaborated with friend Amy Woods to put the picture from Carnegie (Pa.) High School and verse in the paper.
Chuck Lee is head of personnel at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. The avid Virginia Tech fan is a past president of the Blacksburg Rotary Club and is also a member of Blacksburg Baptist Church. He and Tina, a nurse at Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital, and their two daughters have lived in Blacksburg for 13 years. To make his birthday even more complete, Jennifer, 23, and Megan, 18, decorated the front of their home with appropriate black balloons and ribbons.
