Kahila has overcome obstacles
To Jack Bogaczyk:
I read, with interest, your article on Kevin Dresser, the new wrestling coach at Christiansburg High School.
Everyone connected with or interested in wrestling at Franklin County High School will attest to the excellent teams at Grundy, coached by Mr. Dresser.
The reason for this letter is to advise you that I do not believe any wrestling coach has the ability or has overcome many obstacles on the road to a successful program as Kris Kahila's at Franklin County High School.
Without exception, his coaching and leadership is an inspiration not only to his wrestlers but to all who know him and his year-after-year contribution to the high school and this community should never go unrecognized.
Kris has never had the financial support that coach Dresser had at Grundy, but his hard work, dedication and total interest in the welfare of each student is the result of his love for the individual and his appreciation of the desire and accomplishments of each.

Title boxing tough to follow
As a very young boy, around the late 1930s, I used to sit in front of the radio and listen to all of the boxing matches with my father.
I heard all of the great names that boxed and enjoyed the matches, plus fellowship with my dad.
But now, being retired, I can't afford the pay-per-view boxing, so I never get to see any of the championship matches.
The people like myself who have supported boxing all of our lives can't see any big names because of the greedy boxing promoters and television gurus.
So, when there is boxing, we never know the results unless it happens to be a heavyweight title fight or (involves) someone from this state.
I would appreciate The Roanoke Times printing the fight results at least once a week in the paper.
