PUBLIC PULSE

Upcoming:

*Pulaski Town Council is expected to endorse a regional strategic plan for the New River Valley when it meets at 7 tonight. Work on Vision 2020 was carried out from late 1992 through April 1995 by the New River Valley Planning District Commission, working with local governments. Council will also discuss holding a work and planning session of its own Friday and Saturday.

*The Montgomery County Planning Commission will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. on the third floor of the county courthouse. The commission is expected to consider two development proposals in Riner. The commissioners will have to make a recommendation on The Riner Group's request for a rezoning and special-use permit to build 20 town houses off Five Points Road. The Planning Commission tabled the matter after a January public hearing and a deadlocked 4-to-4 vote to recommend the project be denied. Vice Chairman Ed Green was absent.

The commission also will consider whether to recommend the Board of Supervisors schedule a public hearing on the proposed Auburn Hills Golf Club. The golf course and 140-dwelling housing development would be built on 230 acres of farmland owned by Jon and Katy Altizer.

*The Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Christiansburg headquarters library, 125 Sheltman St., Christiansburg.
