EAGLES SOAR TO RVD TITLE

Franklin County crowned seven individual champions and claimed the team title Saturday at the Roanoke Valley District wrestling tournament in Rocky Mount.

The Eagles (233 1/2 points) outdistanced Cave Spring (153), William Fleming (66 1/2), Patrick Henry (65) and Pulaski County (56 1/2) to earn their 10th consecutive title.

Winners for Franklin County were Stacy Menefee (103 pounds), Steven Menefee (112), Andrew King (135), Will Powers (140), Thomas Parmelee (189) and Bruce Cobbs (275).

Other individual champions and their weight classes were: Rob Mangus (119), Patrick Henry; Shawn O'Hargan (130), Cave Spring; Adam Maneen (152), Cave Spring; Chad Norris (160), Cave Spring; J.R. Osborne (171), Pulaski County; and Damon Daniels (215), Cave Spring.

The top four finishers in each weight class advance to the Northwest Region tournament this weekend at Halifax County.
