LATE GOAL SPOILS NIGHT FOR EXPRESS

TALLAHASSEE scores with one minute left for a 3-2 win.

Dan Lupo scored with one minute remaining in the third period to give the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks a 3-2 victory over the Roanoke Express in an East Coast Hockey League game Saturday night.

The loss was the second straight on Express' four-game trip away from the Roanoke Civic Center. The road swing wraps up today at Mississippi.

Tallahassee (31-18-6), the South Division's first-place team, led 2-0 early in the second before Roanoke (29-19-4) came back. Chris Lipsett notched his 17th goal of the season at 9:52 of the second period on a power play to make it 2-1.

Jeff Jablonski, who scored four goals in Friday's 10-8 loss at Jacksonville, tied the score with a slap shot near the blue line at 1:25 of the third.

The Tiger Sharks won it by controlling a faceoff in the Express zone with barely a minute left. Lupo's shot from near the crease was deflected by Express goalie Dave Gagnon, but the puck rolled across the goal line.

Jed Fiebelkorn and Dennis Maxwell scored Tallahassee's first two goals. dG:wq! o
