FOR SENIORS

Senior Identification Cards will be made at several locations during March. Anyone over 60 may obtain a card, which qualifies one for discounts and special services at participating businesses and agencies.

Seniors should bring proof of their age and Social Security number, such as a driver's license or birth certificate. A $1.50 donation is requested. The card is sponsored by the New River Valley Agency on Aging.

People restricted to their homes call 980-7720 or 639-9677 for arrangements.

The schedule is: March 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Radford Senior Center; March 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at Pine Ridge Apartments in Floyd; March 12 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Blacksburg Senior Center; March 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Giles Senior Center; March 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Christiansburg Senior Center; and March 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the New River Valley Agency on Aging in Pulaski.

RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM, 1 Franklin St., Courthouse Annex, Christiansburg. Victoria Scott, 382-5775:

* Today, 10 a.m., The Christiansburg morning group will go to Heritage Hall. At 1:30 p.m., the Christiansburg afternoon group will host the English Meadows Valentine and birthday party.

* Thursday, 2 p.m., Valentine's Party at Heritage Hall, sponsored by RSVP.

* Monday, noon, Lunch in White Memorial Church in Shawsville. Bring a dish.

* Tuesday, 10 a.m., the Warm Hearth and McCoy groups will go to Christiansburg Mennonite Church to work with the preschool program.

* Thursday, 10 a.m., the "News and Views" discussion group will host Terri Smusz from New River Community Action, who will talk about "Problems With the Less Fortunate in the New River Valley."

* March 5, 10 a.m., registration for Spring programs begins. Numbers will be given out at 9 a.m.

* Friday, 9 a.m. Mystery Trip to an unknown destination. Trip and ticket: $3 for seniors, $6 for ages 21-54. Leave from the National Guard Armory.

* Tuesday, noon, AARP #53 meeting at Cambria Baptist Church. Bring a potluck dish.
